Grief

Grieving the loss of a love one takes time and patience. Rushing the process can only make it worse in the long run, as you experience adverse effects arising from unresolved emotions. For the Christian, grief is a journey that can be taken with God's help.

I

Daily Prayer for Ed and Nan

Dear Lord, Walk beside Ed and Nan and let them feel your presence. Give Nan the strength to endure and make Ed as comfortable as possible. Please lay your healing hands on these people in need. I ask this of you in the name of your son Jesus, AMEN

Prayer for My Dear Friend Beulah

Lord, I come to you as a friend of Beulah and her family and ask that you provide them strength and comfort in this time of deep need. Their hurt and grief is deeply embedded. I feel their pain and sorrow, but I can only imagine how hard this time must be for them. I pray that you help them maintain their faith in you during this difficult time.

I know you can be a shoulder they can cry on, so I ask you to be their biggest provider. It is a time when daily life can be so burdensome. Please provide patience for them and others as they work through their grief. Surround them with understanding so that they can work through all the emotions, allow those around them to help keep regular life on track.

And Lord, allow me to be a comfort to my friend. Help me be what they need during this time. Provide me with the comforting words, the kindness in my heart, the patience to allow the grief to take its course. Let me be part of your light and comfort during this time.

I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ Amen

Dear Father, We pray for Beulah and others in her circle of family and friends who are grieving...We reach out to You, Father of compassion and the Source of every comfort, asking You to touch them with Your unfailing love and kindness. Be there to comfort them as they're going through their struggles, and bring them through the tough times ahead. Come alongside them in their pain, and strengthen them when they're hurting, help them find their joy in You, for it's Your joy that will be their strength. I pray this from the hearts of all the members on this site and I do so in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

My affirmation,

"Whatever messages we give ourselves--whatever we hear ourselves saying out loud--we are either affirming a belief in something positive or affirming a belief in something negative. Whether we choose to believe in it or not, there is power in the words we use, which includes the words we say to ourselves. Consequently, people who live consciously choose to use their words wisely, thereby giving themselves positive, life-improving messages rather than negative, self-defeating ones.”
**********

I believe that Christ ordained and sent his disciples, in ancient and modern times, with the promise that through faith they might heal. The gift of healing is a gift of the spirit, a gift that may be present both in the one who administers and the one who receives. The admonition of James is reenacted in what I practice as an ordained Elder in my Christian religion. "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him" (James 5:14-15; cf. D&C 42:43-44).
It is clear from modern revelation that even though not all have this gift of healing, they may still have faith in Jesus Christ and His teachings and pray for healing. In many LDS homes there is exercise of the gift of healing through administrations of the father's priesthood. Blessings of the sick are generally given by two Elders of the Melehizedek Priest hood. There are no prescribed prayers for this kind of blessing, but one of the priesthood bearers anoints the head of the sick person with a little consecrated olive oil and says in substance: "In the name of Jesus Christ and by authority of the Holy Melchizedek Priesthood, I lay my hands upon your head and anoint you with this consecrated oil, which has been dedicated for the blessing of the sick." Additional words may be said in harmony with, and under the guidance of, the Spirit.
Following this anointing, two or more priesthood bearers lay their hands upon the head of the sick person, and one being spokesman calls the person by name and says in substance, "In the name of Jesus Christ and by the authority of the holy Melchizedek Priesthood, we seal and confirm upon you this anointing with which you have been anointed to the end that…" He then voices a prayer of supplication and of blessing as the Spirit directs. The ordinance concludes in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
Three scriptural cautions apply to the principle of blessing the sick.
First, worthiness is to be cultivated by all. At any time, men or women may face the crisis of disease or injury and be asked to exercise faith in behalf of themselves or loved ones.
Second, blessings are not to be given as signs for the skeptical, to satisfy curiosity, or to "consume it upon their lusts" (D&C 46:9). Faith in Christ is the prerequisite, not the consequence, of blessing the sick.
Third, the resulting relief, healing, and fulfillment are not to be boasted about or heralded, but rather to "be spoken with care, and by constraint of the Spirit" (D&C 63:64; 84:73; 105:24). This is consistent with the plea of the Master in the New Testament after many of his miraculous healings: "See thou tell no man!" (Matt. 8:4; cf. D&C 50:33).
Historically, miraculous healings have followed spiritual administrations to the sick for every kind of affliction, in every generation, and in every part of the Church. The promise is that the blind may receive sight, the deaf hear, the paralytic regain the use of limbs. Illustrative scriptural references are: "He that hath faith in me to be healed, and is not appointed unto death, shall be healed" (D&C 42:48). And those who "have not faith to be healed, but believe, shall be nourished with all tenderness" (verse 43).
Dear Lord, As I look in your spiritual mirror let the refection of my brother appear, see his affliction and with your power to heal mercifully remove it. Let your healing be administered through the laying on of my hands. Let me act in your behalf as your obedient servant. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

Prayer for Wendy Brady

Wendy has been in hospital and is having a bad time? Say a prayer for her. She need lots of love and healing sent her way.
*******************************************************
Dear Lord,
You know my friend Wendy Brady so much better than I do. You know her sickness and the burden she carries. You also know her heart.
Lord, I ask you to be with my friend now as you work in her life.
Lord, let your will be done in Wendy's life.
I pray for my dear friend just as your Word tells me to pray, for healing. I believe you hear this earnest prayer from my heart and that it is powerful because of your promise. I have faith in you, Lord, to heal my friend, but I also trust in the plan you have for her life.
Lord, I don't always understand your ways. I don't know why Wendy has to suffer, but I trust you. I ask that you look with mercy and grace toward her. Nourish her spirit and soul in this time of suffering and comfort her with your presence.
You are the One I turn to for help in moments of weakness and times of need. I ask you to be with your servant in this illness. Psalm 107:20 says that you send out your Word and heal. So then, please send your healing Word to your servant. In the name of Jesus, drive out all infirmity and sickness from Wendy’s body.
Let Wendy know you are there with her through this difficulty. Give her strength. And may you, through this difficulty, be glorified in her life and also in mine.
Dear lord I also ask you to bless all the poor and the needy, those who are sick and afflicted and those who are troubled with trying circumstances.
Thank you lord for all the blessings you have given me and the strength to overcome adversity..
Amen.

A Prayer for Strength

A Prayer for Strength is often needed during difficult times. God is always here for us, to give us strength and lift our hearts when all seems hopeless

Give Me Strength, Lord;

Lord, you are Holy above all others, and all of the strength that I need is in your hands. I am not asking, Lord, that you take this trial away. Instead, I simply ask that Your will be done in my life. Whatever that means, that is what I want. But I admit that it’s hard, Lord. Sometimes I feel like I can’t go on. The pain and the fear are too much for me, and I know that I don’t have the strength on my own to get through this. I know that I can come to you, Jesus, and that you will hear my prayer. I know that it is not your intent to bring me to this point just to leave me in the wilderness alone. Please, Lord, give me the strength that I need to face today. I don’t have to worry about tomorrow. If you just give me the strength that I need today that is all I need. Keep me from sinning during this trial. Instead, help me to keep my eyes on you. You are the Holy Lord, and all of my hope rests in you. Thank you for hearing my prayer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
